My candidate is Kathleen Sebelius.
Kathleen is an American politician part of the Democratic Party. She grew up in
Cincinnati, Ohio with her mother Mary and father John, where she raised as a
Roman Catholic. Her father was a former governor of Ohio, so you could say
running for office is in her blood. Kathleen is a very educated woman that
attended Trinity Washington University to receive her B.A. in political
science; she later got her Master of Public Administration degree from the
University of Kansas. ROCK CHALK! She is married to husband, Gary Sebelius who is a
federal magistrate judge and the son of former U.S Representative Keith Sebelius, a Republican.
They have two sons: Ned and John.
Kathleen has a lot of political experience.
First serving as an executive director and chief lobbyist for the Kansas Trial
Lawyers association, and then moving in the Kansas House of Representatives in
1987. Sebelius re-won that election three different times. In 1995, she ran for
Kansas Insurance Commissioner and became the first democrat to win in more than
10 years. Even more impressive is she became the Governor of Kansas in 2003 and
was re-elected for a second term. Finally in 2009 she was nominated by Obama
for the position of Secretary of Health and Human services and accepted.
Sebelius is qualified by far to run
for president of the United States. She is qualified by her charisma, her
patriotism, and her past positions of the Unites States government. She is
qualified by her charisma, her patriotism, and her past positions in politics. Our
president nominated her for her last position. That is an honor in it self. She
is trusted, and overcame challenges during her time in position. Sebelius has a
good electoral history winning over Jim Barnett, and Tim Shallenburger. She is
qualified in general because of all her past positions. As a democrat Sebelius
entered politics after being a part of the Kansas House of Representative for
eight years. After leaving her position with the Obama administration, she was
rumored to be a possible democratic senatorial candidate in Kansas. Sebelius
made mistakes in office but owned up to them and is ready to fight again for
what she believes will make our country better overall. That is her main
priority.
It is essential to know about
Sebelius to understand her potential 2016 campaign. She fights for no more
abortion in that she was endorsed by Planned Parenthood and
they have conducted fundraising activity on her behalf. Sebelius vetoed
legislation that would have limited abortions in Kansas. Another thing to know
about her is that she is a strong believer in letting her people get what they
deserve. For example she adopted a state drug importation program in 2004 to
help her constituents afford prescription medication. As far as education goes.
Sebelius has said she supports Kansans' right to own firearms, but does not
believe a broad concealed carry law would make them safer. Sebelius pushed for more widespread recycling
efforts for her state and calls for greater federal support for renewable
energy resources.

It's interesting that while Sebelius is affliated with the Democratic Party, she doesn't believe that a broad concealed law would make carrying firearms safer. It will be interesting to see how her own personal stances play out with the support of the Democratic party.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to see that she went to KU! I was also curious to see that she "gets what they deserve" but do you think that could hurt her for being President, you cannot always please everyone.
ReplyDeleteAllie, I don't think it will hurt her in this upcoming election because that is just a strength she has that people will see. If she said she would do things and didn't follow through that is a different story.
